Membership

• Each individual in an AKS activity must first become a MEMBER.
• Joining AKS is a simple process. Either register online or fill in the registration form at the back of the catalog. Submit your form to
  the AKS office and pay the ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE of RMB 300.
• Membership cycle is valid from present year August 15th to August 14th of the following year.
• For limited programs held in Pudong or for special events, individuals have the option of paying a non-member price instead of the annual registration fee.
• All members must be children who hold non-P.R.C passports, or
  who are permanent residents of Hong Kong, Taiwan or Macau. AKS regrets that children who do not satisfy these requirements are not eligible to participate in AKS programs. The AKS management has
  the right to ask for a copy of the participant's passport of travel documents to confirm eligibility.

Registration

Participants must REGISTER for a program BEFORE going to the activity venue.

*Online registration

• Go to www.activekidz.org
• Click on "Online registration"
• Follow the procedures described on how to create an AKS Member Account (***)
• After completing all procedures you will be able to use your online account to
      a. Register for activities
      b. Print off a confirmation letter for registered activities
      c. Modify your personal info (email address, phone number, ...)
      d. Change your password

(***) If you have participated in AKS activities before, you have been assigned an AKS membership number. Your AKS membership number is
on the back of your AKS Membership card. If you don't know your AKS membership number, please email activekidz@gmail.com

*Alternative registration options

• Drop by the AKS office to fill out the form.
  Office hours: PUXI – Wed. to Fri., 9:00am – 6:00pm;
                    PUDONG – Wed. to Fri., 9:00am – 5:00pm
• Pick up an AKS catalog at one of the distribution points, fill out the registration forms and fax both pages to the office.

• Register at the Special Sign-up days (please check with AKS
  registrar on specific dates)

NOTE:

• Registrations priority is given to current AKS members before announced deadlines, after which registration is on a first come,
  first serve basis.
• Registration for any program is not complete unless you receive a confirmation email from the AKS office and payment has been made.

Out of Age Group Registration

Children who do not meet AKS age-group requirements by being either too old or too young are not eligible to participate in AKS programs. Limited exceptions can be made at the discretion of AKS management in cases where doing so would not pose safety and/or fair competition concerns. Out-of-age group participants will only be registered by waiting list and only admitted to an activity on a space-available basis.

Payment 

• Payments must be made in cash (no credit cards or cheques) before the start of the season/program.
• Payments can also be made during soccer, basketball and baseball league days (please check with AKS office for exact timing).

Discounts

Schedule of discounts on membership and program fees for families with three or more individuals enrolled in the same program (outsourced
activities excluded):

• 1^st & 2^nd member          Full price
• 3^rd member                  50% off
• 4^th member                  75% off

Activity Changes

Due to the possibility of unforeseen circumstances, such as venue availability, teacher illness, etc., AKS reserves the right to add,
cancel or reschedule classes.

AKS reserves the right to change teachers or coaches at any time.

Program Changes

AKS retains the right to modify programs from their description in this catalog.

Make Up Policy

When classes/games are cancelled due to the weather or other unforeseen circumstances, best efforts will be made to schedule make-up classes, but make-up classes are not guaranteed. Refunds/credits will not be issued for events cancelled due to these conditions.

If a student misses a class, there will be no make-up, refund or credit.

Credit and Refund Policy

If a participant wishes to withdraw from any class or program (including camps and special events) they must inform the AKS registrar in writing. They will be entitled to a credit or refund on the following basis: 

• Membership fees are NON-REFUNDABLE except in instances where
  a family departs Shanghai before participating in any Active Kidz organized event.
• Pre-booking fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
• Activity fees are 100% refundable BEFORE and activity begins, except for activities where a uniform is ordered on behalf of a child, such as soccer, basketball or baseball, the fee minus the cost of
  the uniform will be refunded.
• After the first class/game, 50% of the fees are refundable.
• There will be NO REFUND/CREDIT after the second session/
  class of a program.
• Refunds/credits are available for pick-up at the AKS office every second week of the month following the date an application for
  refund was made.
• Refunds will only be given out on production of valid receipt.
• Refunds not claimed within six months of release date shall be cancelled.
• Credit of payment from one AKS program to another program is subject to AKS office approval.
• The amount of credit/refund will be on a pro-rated basis.
• Credit transfers must be used within the current fiscal year.

Safety and Health

AKS will make best efforts to provide a well-supervised environment to reduce the risk of accidents.

• AKS will not accept liability for accidents. AKS requires that parents sign a liability waiver.
• AKS requires that all participating members be accompanied by parents or adult guardians at all times during AKS activities.

Weather Policy

In case of RAINOUTS

• AKS will advise the coaches of cancellation of the game(s) at least one hour before the start of the scheduled game (example: if you play at 9am, we will e-mail the coaches at 8am).
• AKS will send out email notice to all registered participants in the morning before 8:15am (or from the moment the games are cancelled).
• AKS will post a games cancellation notice on the notice-board of
  the website (www.activekidz.org).
• AKS will leave a game cancellation message on the answering machine.

If you are not notified by any one of the above-mentioned methods games will be played as scheduled. Evidence of thunder and lightning in the area
or consistent heavy rain are the criteria we use for canceling scheduled programs.

In case of THUNDER and LIGHTNING

AKS will cancel or postpone any outdoor activities in the event of thunder and lightning or other extreme inclement weather. All activities will cease and members will be asked to leave AKS premises and seek shelter at home or elsewhere.

Language of Instruction

• AKS uses English as the language of instruction and coaching in all
  of its activities. Participants must have a basic understanding of English. AKS cannot offer refunds to participants who discontinue participation for language reasons.
• In rare cases, if students do not have sufficient English skills, their parents will be asked to help the coaches in translating instructions. This will only be done if the overall instruction to the team is not adversely affected.
