Our Members
AS AKS
continues to evolve as an organization, we have had some
management changes. We are nearing the end of a thorough
search for a new General Manager and we expect to be able to
announce the result soon. In the meantime, the Board would
like to thank Diane Long for stepping in as Interim General
Manager during the fall. The Board greatly appreciates
Diane¡¯s dedication to AKS.
We are
very excited to be newly affiliated with Little League,
probably the world¡¯s most recognizable community and youth
sports organization, which now operates in 70 countries.
This means that our baseball and tee-ball programs will
adopt Little League's well-established rules of play, age
and team structures, and that we will have access to their
network of expertise. Please see the Puxi and Pudong
program sections for information on baseball and tee-ball in
your area. We hope you will join us to play ball!
AKS also
conducted our first customer satisfaction survey and the
vast majority spoke very positively about AKS and how we are
meeting a real need in the community by providing quality
programs at reasonable prices. We also received a number of
constructive comments about the types of programs, levels of
competition, scheduling and location¡ all of which were very
helpful. We always welcome and appreciate your feedback, so
please keep it coming.
As a bit
of news, the AKS Board of Directors held a retreat in the
fall to discuss the future of AKS and we reaffirmed the AKS
commitment to being a non-profit, volunteer-based
organization. Now in our 11th year, we enjoy and
look forward to developing our leadership position in
providing expat children with structured and challenging
sports. And we are expanding both in locations like Minhang
and activity choices like baseball, golf and toddler
soccer.
As I
accompany my son to AKS activities, I am constantly reminded
of the sense of community AKS helps to nurture. It is
evident as I see families from different schools and
countries connecting with one another so their children can
continue their relationship off the field.
Finally,
my biggest thanks are saved for the end as I applaud our
dedicated Staff, volunteer coaches, parents, sponsors and
international school partners for your continued, active
support and participation.
Our AKS
family of Staff and Board Members wish your family a very
healthy new year.
York-Chi
